Board Games

Krishan got Monopoly for Avyaya. Much awaiting board game of his. The other one is RISK which we couldn't find. But I had to promise him that I will buy the minute it's available. I too am enthusiastic about that game. Playing monopoly with Avyaya is so much fun. But he can play it the entire day, unfortunately , I am not able to give that much time to him as I have other chores as well. Everyday thinking different ways to keep kids occupied is getting very challenging. Specially during the winter holidays. I recently thought of two new ways. One day we will make cookies as avyaya is eagerly waiting to try his hands in cooking. He enjoys his 'cooking without fire' classes during his school days. The other one is setting up a Christmas tree. Both the kids are super excited and so am I.

Summer Vacations Amidst Coronavirus

The summer vacations have begun. The only difference in the daily routine of Avyaya is that he no longer has to get up early for his E-classes and sit for 6 hours every weekday. Otherwise, everything else is the same. Lingering at home and playing with his brother or gadgets. It gets really challenging to keep your kid away from gizmos and make them sit and study during holidays. With no option of going out for playing or inviting friends at home or joining any summer camps during this time of the pandemic, we are left with sitting at home and using our time for something productive or learning something new. His Holidays Homework comprises reading of 7 books given by the school itself. Even though he is not an enthusiastic reader but a bit of coaxing is helping him to cultivate a reading habit. Last week he finished Mr Dog and the Rabbit Habit by Ben Fogle, this week he has started with Enid Blyton's The Caravan family. Enid Blyton has been my favourite author too. Apart from reading, he loves to paint. I am happy to see him giving a fair amount of time in these fruitful hobbies. The vacations really seem long this year. Hope this pandemic ends soon and we return to our normal routine.

E-Learning

E-learning for Avyaya started in March. We all were excited as it was something new being introduced to us. The first day Avy and his classmates were quite excited as they were viewing each other on video chat after so many days. the excitement was doubled, as it was a new grade and new teachers.
The books have not yet arrived because of the lockdown but the classes are going on very well. Hats off to the teachers who are making great efforts to give the best to the kids.
I, as a parent, also like to sit with Avy and learn Arabic. it's so much joy. Although by 2.15 pm after 6 hours long homeschooling along with two breaks, one yoga session and one club meeting Avy gets really exhausted God knows where that tiredness goes when he starts playing Minecraft on the same laptop after a couple of minutes. His dad has put up a big screen connecting it with the laptop so Avy enjoys it more and excitedly tells his friends my father has attached a tv with the laptop.
grade 3 is a big class and the subjects are now getting more detailed with new difficult words. but Avy and his friends are really doing an excellent job. it's truly amazing to see these little kids grasping everything so well. God bless them all.

Pandemic coronavirus

The severe pandemic that has expanded globally from Wuhan China has made all are movements restricted.
We cannot go out ..can not meet friends. it's almost a month now that we are quarantined. Thankfully the term is over now so not much is missed out. it's getting difficult to keep avyaya busy at home. even though I made a time table but its seen by him only once and followed never. but otherwise, he is cultivating the habit of reading and good hygiene. he paints draws and colors.
on one hand, he is enjoying his holidays at home and on the other, he is getting bored as he can't go out.  The school showed a lot of responsibility by spreading awareness among the students about the coronavirus and the methods to avoid it and keep oneself safe from it.
online classes will be starting soon for a new session then the craziness at home will die down a bit as they will have to attend proper classes and the teachers will mark the attendance and keep a track on students if they are sitting for the entire class and logging out in the middle of the class. as of now, Avyaya is super excited about his classes as he will be allowed to use the laptop.
